"Bro. Roy's Remarks"

Following Sunday's worship experience; as I reflected on the events of the day, I was overwhelmed with the goodness of God.

Some wonderful things are going on in our church. We have had 30 additions this year. We have a great spirit of unity. Giving from God's people has been good. We had a wonderful Vacation Bible School. We were able to help send a bunch of children to camp. We saw professions of faith both from VBS and camp. We have one of the best youth groups of any church I know. We have a great staff. Max is one of the best staff I have worked with. Shane and Jeannine are doing an outstanding job with our youth. We have seen 2 people surrender to the ministry. God indeed is good.

He has been good to me personally as well. I thank Him for my new wife Connie. She has brought much joy and peace to my life. Her support of my ministry is a great encouragement to me.

I do have one major area of concern, however. Our attendance has been low. I don't really understand why. When we ask people why they aren't coming we often get an answer something like this, "this is the only day we have off, we spend it with our family". The truth is that when we neglect God and worship our families we are headed for trouble. The clear command of God is not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25). Disobedience and neglect of our relationship with God carries a great price. Often those who pay the greatest price are our children. If you really love your family, you will do everything you can to teach them to love God.

During these summer months, I am preaching a series of messages on the top 10 issues facing the church today. We have covered the subject of abortion, homosexuality and relevance. This Sunday I will be preaching on the subject of marriage. Marriage and family were God's idea. The best way to do them is God's way, that includes worship. See you Sunday with God's message on my heart.

Bro. Roy

"Summer Son Shine Kids" meets each Wednesday from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. till August 16. Our musical will be presented Sunday evening, August 20. Come join us as we celebrate summer by singing about God's Top Ten! (The Ten Commandments).

The Nominating Committee has begun its annual process to staff our organizations, ministry groups, and committees. We are meeting each Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. The committee members are Carey Adams, Steve Brown, Linda Carter, Gail & Jimmy Downs, Daphne Edwards, Clayton Shively, Jeannine & Shane Waites, Max Hutto, & Roy Strother. Please pray for this committee, for your place of service, and our church as we seek to enlist workers for the Lord's work! Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38 NASB

Has the summer heat got you tired out? Are you running out of gas? Get some strength to face each day at Sunday School! We know we need to study God's Word each week. We know we need to worship God together. We know this but do we do it? Obey God and come this Sunday!

Invite someone today to Sunday School and Worship!

I'll See You Sunday! MAX
