"Bro. Roy's Remarks"

God has been doing some wonderful things in our church. One of the best indicators of God's presence is seeing young men respond to the call of God to go into ministry. Shane Waites and John Hebert have made their decisions to pursue the ministry. It will be my recommendation, at our next scheduled business meeting, to license both these men into the Gospel Ministry. This license will confirm our trust and confidence in them. They will be free to preach and minister, but they will do so under the watch care of our church. We as a church have the responsibility to support and encourage them as they grow in their relationship with and pursue the calling they have received from God.

There are several important events coming in our near future. I ask you to mark your calendars and make your commitment to be a part of what God is going to do.

We will celebrate with high attendance in Sunday School - God centered worship - dinner on the grounds. We will also take our annual offering for our building fund. We need to plan now so that our offering will be worthy of all God has done for us.

I ask you to pray with me that as school starts back and summer comes to an end, we will see a sense of excitement in our church about God's work. I ask that you covenant with me to pray for growth. Pray that attendance will pick up and that we will be changed for the Kingdom of God.

"Summer Son Shine Kids" will present their musical Sunday evening, August 20. (Be sure to attend rehearsals, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.) Come join us as we celebrate summer by singing about God's Top Ten! (The Ten Commandments). - There will be no children's activities on Wednesdays, August 23 & 30. Our regular schedule will resume September 6 with Missions Organizations and Choirs!

Sunday School New Year Kick-Off

Our new Sunday School year begins in September! We must be busy doing the three dimensions (3D) of God's work for our Sunday School: Invite, Discover, and Connect. To help us get focused on His work we will be having a special All Sunday School Leadership Kick-Off Training Camp Wednesdays, August 23 and 30, at 6:15 p.m. All Sunday School Teachers and Directors are expected to attend! Let's work together to reach people for the Lord!

CONNECTIONS '06 Sunday School Leader Training will be held at First Baptist Church Shreveport on August 19, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You can register at the door! More details are available.

Mini-Chautauqua (Senior-Led Revival) will be at First Baptist Church Minden on August 14-16, 9:00 a.m. to noon. Special guest will be Dr. David Crosby, pastor FBC, New Orleans, Carlos Ichter, Music, & Dr. Harold Johnson, Bible study leader. Everyone is invited.

FAITH Sunday School Evangelism begins our next semester on Tuesday, August 22. I encourage you to come join us as we learn and go out to share about our wonderful Lord and His church.
